Having Appraised myself for over 25 years, I can tell you that I’ve seen it all, or at least it seems like I have. An Appraisers typical work-week is never Monday-Friday like many other working folks out there. Appraisers work Monday-Saturday and of course don’t forget about all of the Sundays they spend, catching up on those jobs the Lender’s going to ring us off the hook for come Monday Morning!!! Anyway, in 25 years I’ve gotten a lot of good experience under and unfortunately “over” my belt and what I’ve learned from all of this is, that no matter WHAT I did as an Appraiser; bending over backwards to get this and that job in early to meet closing deadlines, or to add that Comparable sale the Underwriter had to have in the report, (even though it’s not really necessary, buts the Underwriter liked it) and, and…. Just to get back on track here a bit, what I was saying was, that what I have learned from all of this in 25 years is that I rarely got a “Thank You”. Even though I did Sooo many things right; if I just missed that the drapes were almost new in the house or the carpet was 5 years old, not 7 or the roof had a few shingles repaired or something or other, OMG, did I get an Ear full. It was like they thought I was a fool or an idiot, or didn’t know how to Appraise Real Estate! And sometimes I’d think to myself that perhaps I was in the wrong profession, that I should have been a Teacher or Lawyer (oops, too may Lawyers, sorry…) You know what I mean. So, through these crazy-busy times of ours (that I hope deep down inside, will never end) Please know that there are people that DO appreciate the Appraisers hard work and DO appreciate their help and DO appreciate the fact that they share a HUGE part of their busy lives appraising for and helping the general public across the Country. So Thank You!!!
PS, In the future whenever you go above and beyond and do one of those something extras for a Borrowers or Lenders or Bank etc., Please know that if they forget, in that brief moment, to give you a Thank You or an appropriate acknowledgement for your help, just know that they meant to. And please accept this one now for those times in the future that they might forget. To Americas Real Estate Appraisers, Thank You, for all your Help!!!
